Hacker Alert?

Tue Jul 15, 2014, 4:20 PM
Seems I see a new hacker alert every three to five months. I saw another deviant I follow, :iconshawnskunk: ShawnSkunk had posted a journal warning about a hacker making the rounds here on deviantART . Following is the journal, as posted:
the real hackerpassed from :iconthefoxprince11:
Guys this hacker is for real! This he/she will hack your account and post sexual pictures, only if the he/she hackes your account. If he/she finds that you've posted this to a journal or on your page, he'll/she'll know what's going on and won't hack you. Please copy this for your safety to prevent your account being hacked."

Nobody seems to know the identity of the hacker, so it's tough to find and ban them.
Apparently simply blocking the hacker wouldn't do any good. If they can hack your account, they can easily unblock themselves.
Changing your password today would be a good idea. Just be sure to make it complex.

Other than that, I haven't posted a new journal page since Tax Day, April 14th. It was high time I posted a New journal entry anyway.

The important thing to avoid having your account hijacked is the passwords used, it's easy to hack the account of someone if you know them well. Best is to use a a longer password that people can't guess easily, and avoid things like the names of your pets, kids, etc.
Here's a great explanation of why password length is important (probably the best I've ever seen):

Like I said, it's not the first time I've seen a warning saying similar things.
