In my last journal, I talked about how excited I was to be embarking on a 1500 mile road trip. Then I went silent.
Sorry about that.
When I finally got home, I found that, as expected, my internet connection had been turned off several weeks before. I haven't submitted any pictures since August because my ailing, aging laptop simply doesn't have the spare HDD space to handle the additional photos I still need to copy from my camera.
Earlier in August, I wrote a journal about how my mother was dying of cancer. Well, she finally lost that battle on Sept 27th.
After months of daily trips to the library to use their free wifi to search for jobs and occasionally check in here, I have received my portion ( I have 2 sisters, too ) of the inheritance from Mother's estate. I have the spare money I need to do things that need to be done. I can now afford to replace the timing belt in my car (123K miles when it should be done every 60K) as well as get that leaky exhaust pipe replaced. I also now have the funds to order a new computer. It should ship on Jan 5th.
Expect more from me soon.

Can I Haz Paycheck? Pt 2
After serving in the US Military for over 20 years, I retired in late 2013. Since then, I really haven't held a job.
But now I do. Earlier this week, I obtained a Class B Commercial Drivers License. I've just started driving a school bus in my hometown. It's a bit of a challenge as far as job performance goes, but I feel I'm fully up to the task. Training to acquire my new license went quite well. I'm pretty sure my military time, often spent driving some of the biggest wheeled vehicles Uncle Sam had to offer only helped me. I've driven vehicles just as large and unwieldy as a school bus before.
The yardstick my job performance is measure
Can I Haz Paycheck?
For far too long now, I have been unemployed. This week, I managed to acquire my Class B CDL learners permit. This morning, I received a call from the local coop bus barn that my training begins Monday morning.
I am about to have a full time job again.YAY!
Turkey Day
It's the fourth Thursday in November. For everyone in or from the USA,
Happy Thanksgiving. For everyone else, happy Thursday.
This song is a Thanksgiving tradition at all of the radio stations I've ever bothered listening to.
Eclipse!
I drove down to Oregon to see the eclipse. I'm an amateur photographer whose camera also does video. So I filmed it.

First, my condolences on the loss of your mother. I know how difficult losing a parent is, my father has been gone now many years, but it seems like just a few days. Next, it's great reading that you will be back again sharing your images. I've missed seeing your work and hearing from you. Finally, I want to wish you a Happy New Year, may this be the best year ever!
