Description

UP 6936 is an EMD DDA40X built in 1969 for the 100th anniversary of the Golden Spike Ceremony commemorating the completion of America's first transcontinental railroad at Promontory Point, Utah in May of 1869. The locomotives featured TWO 3300 HP turbocharged EMD 16-645 diesel engine prime movers and two 4 axle trucks as well as a laundry list of electrical and electronic improvements that would be introduced with EMD's -2 series production locomotives in 1972.
